Blog Post- Medications
Medications/Drugs/Medicines/Pills/Prescriptions/Vaccines—Whatever name or phrase you call them, they are not all equal. While medicines have been around for centuries, some are helpful, preventative, and curative, while others can be harmful, dangerous, and lethal. Prescriptions are medications prescribed by a medical doctor, pharmacist, or other licensed professional like a nurse practitioner (NP) or physician’s assistant (PA). Most prescriptions have side effects, and it is extremely important to know those side effects if taking any medications. See helpful links on Drug Guide and more.
Other medications can be over-the-counter (available without a prescription), including vaccines that are supposed to prevent disease, but still have side effects, along with drug and food interactions just like prescription drugs, and it is equally important to know their side effects.
While medications can be beneficial, it is essential that you as an individual know what you are putting in your body, why you are taking the medication(s), and what effects they have on your body. Remember, you have not only the right to know but the responsibility to know what you put into yourself. You also have the right to choose what does and does not go into your body, especially if the risks outweigh the benefits, or if you simply choose not to.
